Week2 Assignment Reflection:

The Principal.....is he just a leader of the building and the staff or is he responsible for modeling action research and continuous learning from staff and students?  The answer to that question come clear in the reading from the Dana text and my own personal experiences.  I believe the principal, just as the rest of the administrative staff and all educators, should model any and everything they expect from students and each other.  The nine common Action Research topics fit well in any school climate and should be an integral part of increasing student achievement and teacher success and retention.  I am encouraged by the idea of pursuing my action research project and working with my site supervisor and peers in fostering inquiry and wondering that will produce change.

  1. Sometimes principals get caught up in their busy daily routines and do not show the staff how important continuous learning can be for educators. As teachers we must model for our students what behaviors we expect from them. For an entire staff, including the administative team, to work as a team toward a common goal, they must all work together and be on the same page.

  2. Modeling is definitely a key factor whenever it comes down to education. This is a place where sponges live. Whether we know it or not, students and teachers as well as administrators are watching and absorbing the good, the bad, and the ugly. Everyone must model what we speak because actions are louder than words.

  3. I agree with the above comments. A good principal models exemplary behavior. They must also be constantly searching for new ideas to promote teacheres and students.
